Items you need to make a chocolate mousse: -

  • 6 oz or 3/4th cup of dark chocolates
  • ½ a cup of unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon espresso powder
  • 4 egg
  • ¼ teaspoon of cream of tartar
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • ½ cup of heavy whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract or essence

Steps to ace a mousse: –

The first and important step is to select the chocolate. The entire flavour of the recipe depends on the chocolates you use. Selecting a dark chocolate is better since it is healthier than other chocolates. You can add chocolate chips too. You will find unsweetened or basic dark chocolate bars at the stores, which are easy to chop and used for baking purposes. When you send chocolates to someone as gifts and you know they love baking, send them some good quality dark chocolates.

Let’s start off with the procedure once you select your chocolates. You need 3 bowls to prepare everything. It is preferred to use metal bowls instead of plastic.

Now, whisk in the chocolate with butter and espresso powder in one bowl over a saucepan on simmering water until the mix is smooth. Take the bowl off heat and let this mix stand for few minutes so it isn’t too hot. Now put in egg yolks and incorporate well.

In a different bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg whites at high speed till it gets foamy and then add the cream of tartar. Add ¼ cup of sugar and continue beating until there is smooth foam formed.

In the third bowl, beat the whipping cream until it thickens and doesn’t fall off the container. Add a tablespoon of sugar and add the vanilla extract or essence. Beat this mixture until you see soft peaks forming.

Now, carefully put in half of the egg whites mix into the chocolate mix. Gradually, put the remaining and keep stirring well. Make sure it is mixed completely well.

Last but not the least, transfer the mousse into serving glasses and bowls and put it in the fridge for about 4 to 5 hours till it settles well. When you serve it, you can use the whipped cream as a topping and chocolate chips too.

This simple and easy recipe can be made by anyone. Just make sure you do the saucepan procedure carefully. So, if you love indulging in an out-an-out chocolate, then you must try this recipe at home. It is literally a cake walk to ace this dish!
