Easy chocolate truffle recipe!

It is always a good time of the year to learn how to make easy and quick chocolate truffles at home. This recipe makes a great item if you are planning to give someone a chocolate gift surprise. They are tasty, special and get delicious as they mature. Though they taste great and look fancy, it is extremely simple to make them at home. Just few ingredients and methods is all you need. You need some patience so that everything turns out just fine. You can also use these truffles as cake decorations by making them of smaller sizes and using them as toppings.

Let’s start making Chocolate Truffles!

Ingredients:

For the filling:-

  • A box (8 ounces) of bittersweet chocolate or dark chocolates (finely chopped)
    Half cup of heavy cream

For the truffle coating:-

  • A box of dark chocolate or milk chocolate (finely chopped). We prefer dark chocolate, so the sweetness is in order.

Steps to make the chocolate truffles –

Put the dark chocolate or bittersweet chocolate for the filling in a large heat proof bowl and set it aside.

Then, take a saucepan and heat the cream on medium heat until it comes to boil and you see bubbles. Remove it from heat and pour it over the chocolate in the heat proof bowl. Let this mix settle down for about 2 to 3 minutes and then whisk it until it is smooth.

Leave it to cool at room temperature until it becomes firm. This will take about 3 hours or you can leave it overnight too. If you don’t have time, then you can fasten the process by putting this in the refrigerator for about 1 or 2 hours. Make sure you keep it away from strong fragrant foods. Check the mix after an hour, and if it is firm, then it is ready.

Make sure a spoon is able to go through the mixture easily while it is firm. Otherwise, you will have to leave it at room temperature for another 30 to 40 minutes. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper or parchment.

Grab this mixture bowl and spoon out a portion of the chocolate filling and roll it into small balls using your palms. Be gentle when you do this. Place it on the baking sheet and keep repeating until you have the number of balls you need. It is recommended if you use the entire chocolate mixture. Once done with all, place this baking sheet in the fridge for about 30 to 35 minutes.

Melt the coating chocolate in a saucepan or microwave and make sure it boils well. Remove it from heat and take out the chocolate balls from the fridge. If you want, you can coat these balls from powdered nuts and cocoa powder and call it done. If you want a rich chocolate truffle, which tastes delightful, then dip one ball at a time in the liquid chocolate. Make sure there isn’t excess dip, so use a fork to dip it in.

Place this on a wire rack over a sheet of waxed paper so that the additional chocolate can drip on it. Let it settle down until the topping is firm and nice. Leave it at room temperature for about 1 or 2 hours until you place it in a container to store it or serve it.
